Create Platform Ready Social Posts Directly from Bold
For publishers, social media is an important part of reaching readers. A story published on the website can also reach audiences on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, where readers are already following and discovering content.
But getting a story ready for social takes more than sharing the story itself. Publishers often have a specific format for how their stories should look on social:
The logo needs to be placed consistently.
The headline needs to follow a defined style.
The section name may need to be included in the creative.
And each platform has its own image format and dimensions.
When this has to be done for every story, creating social creatives can quickly become repetitive manual work.
That's where Social Autopost in Bold CMS comes in.
Social Autopost, now with image posts
Social Autopost has already made it possible to share stories directly from Bold to social platforms. With the latest update, it now takes care of the social creative as well.
When a journalist chooses where to share a story, Bold uses the publisher's configured template to create the image for that platform.
The story's hero image, headline, logo, and, where configured, section names are brought into the creative automatically. Publishers can define how these elements should look and where they should appear, so their social posts follow the same visual style.
Bold also creates the image in the format required by the selected platform. So an Instagram Post, Instagram Story, X, Facebook, or LinkedIn post gets the appropriate dimensions without the journalist having to create and resize each version separately.
Key Benefits
Save time on every social post: Bold automatically applies your predefined template and generates the social creative in seconds, so your team doesn’t have to recreate the same design for every story.
Consistent branding: Keep your logo, headline style, section label, and overall visual treatment consistent across your social posts.
The right format for every platform: Get platform-specific creatives for Instagram, Instagram Stories, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X without manually resizing each image.
Make changes before you publish: Make quick changes to the crop, headline, logo, or hero image before publishing instead of starting the creative again.
How it works
Step 1: In Bold story editor click on “Manage”.
Step 2: Go to “show advanced options” and then click on “Social” to view the available social platforms.
Step 3: Toggle “on” the social platforms where you want to share the story.
Step 4: Select Image Post for the platform where you want to create a social image.
Step 5: Review the generated image and make any required changes before posting.
Step 6: Add or review the social message, then choose to post with story publish or schedule the post.
Conclusion
Social Autopost brings story publishing and social publishing into the same step. Instead of building a separate creative for every story on every platform, your configured templates do it at publish time and the journalist reviews before it goes out. For a newsroom running multiple stories a day, that's one less thing standing between publishing and posting.
